The good news: we can rewire our brains to produce change.
Even better news: this can happen at any age by simply thinking differently.
In 2007, Harvard Medical School conducted a study of people who had never played the piano. Brain scans showed people who only imagined playing the piano had the same new brain circuits and the same amount of new brain expansion as those who physically practiced playing it.
A similar study was conducted years earlier with basketball players shooting free-throws. The players who only imagined shooting perfect free-throws every day had nearly the same improvement as those who physically practiced every day.
These are just two examples of research into the power of imagination and using the mind to create change. What they showed was our brains can’t distinguish between what is happening in our imagination and what is happening in the real world. They also show that our thoughts can create physical changes in our bodies.
Self-hypnosis is a great way to harness the power of the imagination to create the changes you want in your life!
